- IN-CAMERA SOFTWARE REVISION INFORMATION

Thank you very much for purchasing the Maxxum/Dynax 7.
Some Maxxum/Dynax 7 cameras were found to have problems which inhibit some operation in the depth-of-field preview, memory, and the DX memory functions.
If your camera is affected, Konica Minolta will revise the software in the camera free of charge at Konica Minolta service facilities from October 19th, 2000. Meanwhile, please follow the instructions below to avoid the problem.

<HOW TO IDENTIFY THE BODY>

Check the serial number on the bottom of your camera. Products with serial numbers starting with the following first four digits may contain the affected units.

9700XXXX
9800XXXX
9900XXXX

<WHAT HAPPENS AND HOW TO WORK AROUND THE PROBLEM>

Problem 1
What happens
When you select the depth-of-field preview operation by pressing the depth-of-field preview button on the camera or the focus-hold button* on the lens when the navigation display is in the vertical position, in combination with some Minolta Maxxum/Dynax AF lenses, the camera accepts no further operation.
*This occurs when you have allocated a depth-of-field preview function to the focus-hold button with Custom 6-3.

How to work around the problem
Turn the vertical display off by selecting Custom 32-2.

Problem 2
What happens
When you remove the batteries from the camera, or detach the Vertical Control Grip VC-7 from the camera, or switch the power source between the VC-7 and the camera, the flash-compensation values stored in Memory 1 and Memory 3 reset to +/- 0 EV.

How to work around the problem
Store the settings in Memory 2 if you want to set a flash-compensation value of other than +/- 0 EV.

Problem 3
What happens
When you close the back cover before inserting a new roll of film in the camera with the "DX Memory On" selected with Custom 4-2, the change that was made to the ISO (film speed) is reset and is not applied to the new roll even if it has the same ISO.

How to work around the problem
When replacing the film, do not close the back cover before inserting a new roll.
