Black Pioneers of Fairbanks Day Printer Friendly
WHEREAS, the pioneers who came from all walks of life who forged the Golden Heart City were bold, daring, strong, and courageous. Working together they helped build Alaska’s sturdy foundation.
WHEREAS, this vigorous spirit endures in today’s pioneers, who remain an integral part of the Fairbanks community. Among this proud assembly are the Black Pioneers of Fairbanks.
WHEREAS, throughout more than a century of selfless dedication and unwavering commitment, Black Pioneers have contributed immeasurably to making Fairbanks, and all Alaska, a wonderful place to live.
WHEREAS, shoulder to shoulder with the diverse cultures and races of Alaska, Black Pioneers continue to build upon that proud legacy, leaving a lasting heritage for their children, their community, and our great state.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sarah Palin, Governor of the State of Alaska, do hereby proclaim September 22, 2007, as:
Black Pioneers of Fairbanks Day
in Alaska, and invite all residents to join the Greater Fairbanks Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in honoring the hardy pioneers who helped shape Alaska.
