September 2005: The deputy minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, Theopolina Mushelenga finds herself in the same boat as Sam Nujoma as far as the rights of gays and lesbian.
According to Mushelenga, gays and lesbians betrayed the fight for freedom and are responsible for the HIV/AIDS pandemic and are an insult to African Culture.
She agrees wholeheartedly with Nujoma that the rights of gays and lesbians must be rejected by Namibians. This she said at the commemoration of Heroes Day in the Omaalala settlement in the Ongwediva constituency.
She continued by casting judgment on people in the community defending the rights of gays and lesbians.
We know and respect human rights we don't need them to tell us what human rights are all about.
She warned the youth not to allow the profits of gay and lesbian love to mislead them if they [the youth] wish to become future responsible leaders.
