CAFÉ VACCA MATTA LAUNCHES GAY PINK TUESDAY

 

Café Vacca Matta situated at Golden Horse Casino, Pietermaritzburg will be launching Pink Tuesday at their venue on Tuesday, 31 July 2007.

 

The aim of launching Pink Tuesday is to provide a venue for gays and lesbians to socialize and to party every Tuesday.

 

The initiative of Café Vacca Matta is in partnership with the PMB Gay & Lesbian Network a registered non-profit organization that provides support and services to the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community.

 

This initiative forms part of the Networks strategy of developing and providing safe spaces for the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community through securing these spaces with key stakeholders in Pietermartizburg.

 

“I was approached by my gay friends who were looking for a gay venue to socialize and made our venue available to them and look forward to organizing some exciting events soon” said Sonia Van Eck, manager of Café Vacca Matta.

 

Café Vacca Matta is one of many venues that the Network has secured and also includes the Kismet Hotel and the municipal library that hosts its events.

 

“I am very excited with the partnership formed with Café Vacca Matta and look forward to fulfilling our strategy of providing safe spaces for the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community” said Anthony Waldhausen, director of PMB Gay & Lesbian Network.

The launch of Pink Tuesday will take place on Tuesday, 31 July and have invited the 5 Diamonds a drag cabaret group who hail all the way from Kimberly, Northern Cape. All performers live in Kimberley and do group songs by Sister Sledge, “We are Family” anthem to “It’s raining men” by the Weather Girls. Tina Turner, Whitney Houghston, Gloria Gaynor, Beyonce and Madonna are among some of the artists they impersonate.

The launch takes place on Tuesday, 31 July and starts at 7h30pm at Café Vacca Matta, Golden Horse Casino, Pietermaritzburg and cost is R20 per person which includes free cocktail on arrival. It also includes DJ Sir D!!
