August 2, 2005: The Presbyterian Church of East Africa has resolved not to have partnership with any church or organisation that supports homosexuality.

It has also condemned homosexuality and related immoral behaviour in society.

PCEA ministers have thus committed themselves to strengthening the institution of marriage.

The resolutions were made by 400 PCEA ministers during their annul meeting in Mombasa, where they also evaluated successes and challenges in the church.

They asked the Government to introduce tough anti-rape laws and also to appropriately rehabilitate victims.

Led by Rt Rev David Gakii, the church also paid tribute to the National Agency for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse.

Their concern was that Kenya had become a major international drug trafficking point.
They now want the Government to ensure that adequate resources are mobilised to fight the problem.

They also urged the Government to ensure that all catchment areas are protected to save the environment.

They were happy that that the administration of the Constituency Development Fund and the Secondary School Bursary Fund was making an impact at the grassroots level.

They condemned the killing of Bishop Luigi Locati and asked the Government to ensure such incidents are not repeated.

Meanwhile, Kamagambo Teachers Training College in Migori District will begin to offer degree programmes from January.

The Adventist's East Africa union education director, Mr John Ottewa, announced yesterday that they had finalised plans for the Bachelor of Education degrees.

Speaking during the 76th graduation ceremony at the college on Sunday, Ottewa announced that the pilot programme will run during holidays. P1 teacher trainees were happy with the announcement. Founded in 1912, Kamagambo is one of the oldest teacher training colleges.
