August 15, 2005: Abuja - Rt. Rev. Nyansako-ni-Nku made the declaration in Abuja while addressing the media on the communique of the General Committee of the Conference held between August 2005. He said Africa has enormous problems weighing her down advising the media to stop surplanting Africa's problem with the problem of the West.
He noted that gay marriage has been handled by different denominations as they thought fit, but noted the conference believed in the sanctity of the marriage as inscribed in the Bible.
Issues like war, famine and political instability he stated should occupy the media in Africa and not unscriptural problems of the West.
He noted thus "Representatives of the AACC have been with church leaders in Burundi in the midst of political uncertainly; they have travelled to Togo to stand in solidarity with victims of violence and call for democracy and accountability from the government. After the death of vice president John Garange in Sudan, the General Secretary led a delegation to meet with government officials, church leaders, and the family of Dr. Garange in order to express the condolences of the Church of Africa and advocate for a continued commitment to peace in this time of great confusion," he said.
Speaking further on Sudan, Rev. Nyansako-ni-Nku stated that AAC has established contact with the leadership of the Sudan Christian council and will continue to try to establish contact with the Muslim community of Sudan asking for their partnership and cooperation in the promotion and maintenance of the fragile peace agreement between the peoples of Southern Sudan who are predominantly christian and the moslem dominated regime in Northern Sudan.
