History of the DAR's involvement in marking the National Old Trails Highway. What is especially interesting about this article is its reference to the National Old Trails Highway being designated 'Route 1.' Oh how the D.A.R. tried so hard to get the FHA to make an exception in the way they numbered highways. As we all know, the attempt to get the highway marked as 'Route 1' failed.
