darkwave

Darkwave, not waving but drowning, as re-invented by composer Simon Heath. This is a very atmospheric CD indeed, and succeeds in its stated ambition to conjure up the gloomy, menacing world of prison cells, side by side along the long, doomy corridor shown on the cover. Well, you know where you are with CMI, it’s never going to be cheerful. This is the stuff of nightmares and its understated unpleasantness makes it all the more depressing. Not one for the faint hearted, but well done indeed. Label mainman Roger Karmanik AKA Brighter Death Now compares this to some of the stuff put out by the ever excellent Loki Foundation. He’s not wrong, it does sound a bit like Inade, but whereas those chaps tend to deal with the unseen and the ethereal, this one’s all about harsh reality.
