Greg Goebel / In The Public Domain

IF YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION ... read bottom half of page

* This site contains a set of public-domain writings on a range of subjects. All documents have been written by myself and are free for use in the public domain; many of the illustrations have been created by myself and are also in the public domain, with these illustrations marked "GVG / PD".

The site is divided into several "subsites" by topic:

Feel free to repost or reuse all public-domain materials from this site, though crediting the source and providing a link to this site would be very much appreciated. If you do use any of the graphics, you will need to download them and repost them; "hotlinking" has been locked out of this site. If you repost any of the graphics or documents, please remember to include the revision code so out-of-date versions can be recognized. If you'd like to leave a message, just use the READER COMMENTS facility.

Please note that I made a conscious decision when I established this site that I would emphasize content and take a minimalist attitude toward cosmetics. In particular, the pages on this site do not specify colors or fonts. This means that in the absence of any other measures, users will generally get black and white pages and Times Roman fonts. However, it is easy to set colors and fonts in a web browser to your own satisfaction. Under MS Internet Explorer, just go to the menu entry for "Tools / Internet Options / Appearance / [Colors] [Fonts]".

Be aware that you may on rare occasions find documents with a revcode date placed in the near future. These are preliminary uploads of documents for testing purposes, and they may change without notification up to the release date. For further background information on this site, check the "Updates, Stats, Personal Info" link above.

to make a contribution ...

* All the work I have done on the Internet has been represented as free for all use. Contributions are not expected on this end, but they are not unwelcome either. If your financial comfort level permits it, your generosity to this effort will be very much appreciated.

If you'd like to make a donation, you can do so using PayPal. If you have a PayPal account, you can make a transfer directly, and if you don't it will allow you to make a credit-card donation. Overseas readers can contribute in their national currency; PayPal will perform the currency conversion. Any size donation is appreciated, but remember that PayPal takes a fixed cut of a few dimes plus a percentage on top of that for each transaction.

If the banner link doesn't work and you have a PayPal account, you can simply log into your account and specify gvg_ppm@q.com as the transfer target. Please don't use that address for correspondence; please use the "EMAIL" link in the menus at the top or bottom of the page. If you're unsure about PayPal, just go to:

-- for details. I've been using it since about mid-2004 and have been a satisfied customer. If you're worried that you're being directed off onto a scam, just look up PayPal on Google and don't use this link. PayPal is highly secure: unlike a credit card, nobody takes money from you, you have to actively give it to them.

Using the banner advertising also helps. Please don't just bang on ads to drive up the count -- that's ripping off the advertisers, and since they are fair with me, I would ask you not to do that -- but at least glance at them when you're surfing through the site to check to see if there's something interesting there for you, and if you buy something, all the better. Of course, since I generally don't know who the advertisers are -- Adsense assigns ads dynamically, using an engine that matches a web page to their list of advertising clients -- I can give no guarantees about them.
