Brandenburg Kentucky was
almost completely devastated as a F5 tornado roared through the quaint river
town on April, 3 1974. The Meade County Messenger recorded these
events in a book "Since April 3rd." Pat Bowen has been kind enough to allow
me reproduce the entire book for this web site and Ken and Dana Moore loaned
me their copy of the book to use. I have tried to capture the spirit of the
book on the web site. The book is divided into sections:

Our Meade County Heritage
- Describes the town of Brandenburg before the tornado going into detail
about the homes destroyed. The page has 82 photos, 22 of which depict
tornado damage
-
The Overall view of the
Tornado Destruction - is a detailed account of every building affected
by the tornado. It contains 19 photos with some great aerial shots.
- Survivor stories make up the next 68 pages of the book. An incredible
look at what it was like to be an F5 tornado. I hade to divide it up into
4 separate web pages. A total of 60 photos!
