Brazilian Super Puma helicopters take final flight

30 November 2015

A Brazilian Air Force (FAB) squadron took its final flight with Airbus Helicopters AS332M Super Puma (locally designated H-34) utility/combat support helicopters on 28 November, as the fleet is being removed from service.

The last two aircraft were transferred to Brazil's PAMA-SP material park in São Paulo.

The FAB received 10 AS332Ms beginning in 1986 (one was later converted to a VH-34 government transport configuration). A single AS332M1 was also acquired to complement the VH-34 within the air force's Special Transport Group (GTE).

Squadron 'Puma' stationed at Afonsos airbase in Rio de Janeiro was outfitted with the last Super Pumas and is now being fielded with the Airbus Helicopters H225M Caracal (locally designated as H-36).
