Suzuka Circuitland

T uzuka Circuitland celebrated its 30th anniversary in September 1992. Suzuka Circuitland was the first genuine race course built in Japan. The objective of its construction was not only the pursuit of safety and performance in motor vehicles but also to provide opportunities for young people to enjoy and experience motor sports. The circuit and its surroundings were designed so that people could familiarize themselves with science and technology, including hands-on experience provided by the opportunity to drive motor-powered vehicles in the amusement park. In other words, Suzuka Circuit was built under the grand vision of making a contribution to motorization of Japan.

Recently, a number of world championship races have been held at Suzuka, including the Formula One Japan Grand Prix and the Suzuka 8-hour Endurance Road Race. The circuit was awarded the Best Organizer Prize for its organization of the Formula One Japan Grand Prix in 1987 and 1989. This prestigious award reflects the reputation that Suzuka Circuit enjoys both inside and outside of Japan.
