Spider Island Shuts Down

TeleFinder BBS developer closes doors
Citing adverse market conditions, Spider Island Software, developer of the TeleFinder Internet Server, announced that it will close its doors effective August 31, 1997.
TeleFinder began as bulletin-board server software but Spider Island recently added Internet features, such as a Web server. But company president Rusty Tucker stated the Spider Island simply did not have the capital to continue to compete in the crowded Internet space. "On the low end, Microsoft is giving away their Web server, and on the high end, Starnine has a powerful market position. We just got stuck in the middle."
Spider Island will ship version 5.5 next week to existing customers, but will cease all development and support as of the end of August. Tucker said that Spider Island is looking for a company willing to take over support for the product.
