In the article Scheduling the Win98 Maintenance Wizard I showed you how to use the Maintenance Wizard to schedule Windows 98's hard-disk maintenance utilities. I also promised to describe in more detail how to configure the hard-disk maintenance utilities that the Maintenance Wizard allows you to schedule.
In this article, I'll describe how the ScanDisk utility protects your hard drive from the most common hard drive errors. Then, I'll show you how to configure the options found in the ScanDisk utility.
Important Note:
As you read through this article, keep in mind that while the focus of this article is on accessing a configuring ScanDisk from Windows 98's Maintenance Wizard, the ScanDisk utility is basically the same in both Windows 95 and Windows 98. Therefore, most of the information in this article will be useful to Windows 95 users as well.
