New Batman Beyond Episodes

Upcoming new episodes of Batman Beyond on Kids’ WB! for the November sweeps include “Once Burned” on Nov. 6, “Hooked Up” on Nov. 13 and “Rats!” on Nov. 20.

In “Once Burned,” Batman/Terry’s emotional resolve is put to the test when an old girlfriend, who also happens to be the notorious Ten of the Royal Flush Gang, reverts back to a life of crime. The situation becomes further complicated when he learns that she’s being forced to steal to save her family from kidnappers.

In “Hooked Up,” Batman has to come to Max’s rescue when she becomes addicted to a virtual reality world that is controlled by Spellbinder.

In “Rats!,” Batman must protect Dana from a dangerous secret admirer... a lonely teenage outcast who lives underground with giant mutant rats as his only companions.

The Batman Beyond straight-to-video movie has not officially been given the green light yet, producer Paul Dini said, but an announcement is expected soon.

Urban Legend 2 Underway

Production began last week in Toronto on Urban Legend 2 - The Final Cut, a sequel to the thriller, from Columbia Pictures and Phoenix Pictures. Urban Legend 2 will star Jennifer Morrison, Joseph Lawrence, Anson Mount, Eva Mendez, Jessica Cauffiel, Anthony Anderson, Matt Davis, Loretta Devine and Hart Bochner.

Urban Legend 2 -- The Final Cut follows Amy Mayfield (Morrison), a student at Alpine University who struggles to complete her thesis film on urban legends -- only to have her crew members fall prey to fatal "accidents." Suspicious, Amy investigates and discovers a much more sinister hand at work. Now she must unmask the killer before she, too, becomes an urban legend.

The film is directed by John Ottman from an original script by Paul Harris Boardman and Scott Derrickson. Making his feature film directorial debut, Ottman served in the dual role as editor and composer on the Academy Award-winning film The Usual Suspects and Apt Pupil. Ottman has also composed the music for the films Lake Placid, Halloween: H20, Incognito, The Cable Guy and the forthcoming X-Men.

Shooting will take place in Toronto through Dec. 16. The film is slated for a 2000 release.

Short Takes

Gloria Reuben (ER) and John C. McGinley have joined Billy Zane in the four-hour mini-series based on Dean Koontz's chart-topping suspense novel Sole Survivor that’s slated to air on Fox later this season.

Reuben plays a mysterious and possible sole survivor of a tragic plane crash, on which all passengers were thought to have died. When a former crime reporter (Zane) learns of her possible link to the crash that killed his wife and child, he tracks her down for answers to the numerous questions surrounding the accident. She is simultaneously hunted by dark and deadly conspirators racing to stop her from revealing any details about the mysterious tragedy.

McGinley, who also starred in the Dean Koontz mini-series Intensity, plays the leader of forces that will stop at nothing to suppress the truth behind the deadly plane crash.

  • Seven, the thriller starring Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt, will air on Fox on Friday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). The movie was written by Andrew Kevin Walker, who is currently working on the Silver Surfer film.

  • MAD TV celebrates its 100th episode this Saturday on Fox.

  • The Nutty Professor, starring Eddie Murphy, will air on Fox on Friday, Nov. 5.

Coming Friday: Beast Machines, The Avengers - and much more!!!
