Searching for the right way to illustrate a point? Something visually dramatic? Consider using a video clip. What better vehicle than a 30- to 40-second video clip with sound? Video is definitely more exciting than a still image. Now's the time to explore the world of computer video.
What do you need? PowerPoint 95 or 97, a Windows 95- or Windows 98-compatible sound card installed, and access to the proper video clips, which would be any standard AVI file. PowerPoint comes equipped with some video clips and you can also download hundreds of .AVI files from the Web.
Even better yet, if you need a video clip for something unique or specific to your organization, you can record your own custom video with the use of a single peripheral device, such as a digital video camera. In this lesson, based on an article from a recent issue of ZD Journals' Inside PowerPoint, we'll show you how to place a video clip on a slide of a presentation. By adding a video clip to a slide, you can add drama to an otherwise dull presentation, clearly illustrate a procedure, or accentuate a point.
