The good:  Impressive performance; enormous 15.7-inch screen; ample warranty and support terms; numerous ports including FireWire, Dolby Digital audio out, and USB.
The bad:  Back-breaking weight; budget-breaking price; shoddy sound.
The bottom line:  Aside from its subpar audio experience, the Solo 9500CX is a mobile multimedia maven's dream come true.

Never underestimate the power of one, which, in this case, is Intel's new 1GHz mobile Pentium III processor. Even though the configuration of the Solo 9500CX we tested was hobbled by Windows Me, it still whipped through CNET Labs' speed tests in good time. Gateway supplements the Solo's speed with multimedia features galore, including a gargantuan 15.7-inch TFT display. While these high-end features also mean you get a large footprint and a steep price, that's simply the cost of living on the cutting edge.

" Not worth the money or hassle"
The new Gateway 9500 looked to be a nice laptop, worth the extra weight for the biggest screen. After I received the machine, I realized Gateway sacrificed the screen quality for its size. The resolution was horrendous and three pixels shining red all the time. The machine was full of bugs so I decided to take advantage of the return policy. The whole experience was poor, from the notebook quality to the service. Never again!

" Wonderful upgrade of it's predecesor!"
As a person who actually has seen and used the computer. Not to mention also owns one, not just a friend of a friend. I can honestly say that this machine is less expensive for the ammenties that it offers, and lighter than it's predecesor.(Solo 9300) In my opinion if price is the issues than you are really getting the bang for your buck. So if price is the true issue of fault, Gateway offers many other notebook computers that are less expensive and may suit your needs at hand. The Gateway 9500 as a weight agenda is almost 2 pounds lighter. So to wrap this up Gateway Solo 9500 is all-in-all more advanced and more proficient machine than the 9300. So there is my opinion as an owner, and not the friend of a friend of a friend of a owner.
