Ricoh MediaMaster MP7120A 12x/10x/32x
CNET Review
By Bob Starrett (09/11/00) Ricoh's MP7120A 12X/10X/32X CD-RW drive kit includes everything you need to begin recording data or audio (except the data and audio itself, of course). The package includes the drive, an IDE cable, mounting screws, an audio cable, one piece of CD-R media, one piece of high-speed, certified CD-RW media, and a Quick Start guide. The software bundle includes the formidable Primo CD Plus from Prassi Software (build 1.1.372) and Prassi's abCD 1.3 for packet writing. CNET User Opinions

"Ricoh is VERY reliable" I installed my SCSI Ricoh in an external case. I have used it on slow (133 MHz) PCs and (100 Mhz) Macs, a blazing dual 400Mhz PII box. On the slow boxes, it does fine. On the fast one, you can multitask to your hearts content. I have used Maxells, TDKs, and also Comp*USA and no-names with no problems. Three suggestions: 1. Go SCSI (or Firewire) 2. Go Adaptec Easy CD Creator Deluxe or Toast 3. Go Ricoh P.S. I tried an 8x Yamaha, and it gives me grief with multi-tasking on the fast PC, and wasn't even recognized by the Mac at all, despite the fact that I bought the Mac version (with Toast). Support tried was fast and friendly, but could not solve the problem. Alan C.
