If you can't find Mark in the Virgin Radio studio then chances are he'll be in a movie screening theatre or fixing a chat with the latest Hollywood hottie for Virgin Radio's Movie Update which is broadcast daily at 6.50 and 10.30pm.
In addition to presenting his Sunday afternoon music show Mark has been Virgin Radio's movie critic since 1995 and reckons he has watched at least 1000 films in the cause of duty for Virgin Radio.
Before this he worked the usual DJ apprenticeship. Mark spent solitary hours in his bedroom at home in Yorkshire practising his turntable talents, followed by Friday evenings embarrassing his mates with attempts at DJ-ing. At Newcastle University he hosted party nights before managing to pay his way through college (BSc Pure and Applied Maths). He presented firstly on Radio Tees in Stockton and then Newcastle's Metro Radio.
Here Mark hosted the top rated morning show for nine years, plus the Saturday sports programme. It was then that he was first persuaded to participate in and report on that northeast institution the Great North Run. So began a love of running that endures to this day leading to reporting jobs for BBC Grandstand and a personal best of 2'54" in the London Marathon. Actually he only ever ran one marathon, wimping out because they hurt too much.
Technology TV is Mark's other speciality. Watch out for him on television.
