VoiceStream Wireless eliminates the need for multiple communication devices. In addition to making and receiving calls, users can accept FaxMail messages to their phone; send and receive voice, text, numeric, and e-mail messages; even receive personalized news and information services directly from the Internet.
FaxMail lets users receive a fax to their phone. The network will store the fax and allow users to print it at their convenience to the fax number of their choice. If the user's phone is turned off, the VoiceStream network will store any type of message and deliver it the next time the phone is turned on.
VoiceStream's personal portal, MyVoiceStream.com integrates the Internet with wireless phone service. Customers can receive customized news and information directly to their handset including stock quotes, sports scores and more. The tightly integrated portal offers the ability to send and receive e-mail to and from a wireless device and allows customers to filter, forward, and reply to home or office e-mail addresses.
Security and Privacy
The VoiceStream Wireless "Smart Card" helps secure VoiceStream phones against unauthorized use. The phones won't operate without this programmable computer microchip embedded in a plastic card. Even after the VoiceStream Smart Card is inserted into the phone, a personal identification number (PIN) chosen by the customer must be verified before the phone can be used. VoiceStream's network ensures that all calls are private. All transmissions are digitally encrypted to prevent eavesdropping or 'cloning' of a phone number.
Call Quality and Reliability
VoiceStream's 100% digital network delivers better sound quality than other wireless services, including crisper, clearer voice quality and less static, fading and background noise. The well-developed network ensures that all calls and messages are processed quickly and reliably.
Global Roaming
Customers can enjoy VoiceStream service while traveling abroad, thanks to the Smart Card and to VoiceStream's Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) technology. Because VoiceStream's all-digital network operates on GSM, the world standard for digital wireless communications, a subscriber can transfer his or her Smart Card to a 900 or 1800 MHz rental phone, or use a 900/1900 MHz dual or 900/1800/1900 MHz tri band phone, while retaining all customized service information, as well as personal fraud protection and privacy features. VoiceStream has international roaming agreements with more than 164 of the major operators worldwide providing service in 71 of the most traveled countries.
