About the Program

The Cato Institute receives the great majority of its funding from individual Sponsors, and considers those Sponsors as colleagues in Cato's efforts to roll back political society, and expand civil society. Thomas Jefferson once admonished that "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty," but in today's complex world, it is simply impossible for the average American to know about every effort to take away his liberties, much less do anything about it.

Support for the Cato Institute is your way of staying "eternally vigilant," because the Institute's area of specialization is protecting your liberty: we watch the watchers. We hope you'll join us in our efforts to advance individual liberty, free enterprise, and constitutionally limited government at one of the Sponsor levels described below.

All contributions to the Cato Institute are fully tax-deductible.
