Through intensive workshops, festivals, and the ENCORE School for Strings,
students have an opportunity to perform major repertoire at the highest
level and our community outreach efforts offer the community the opportunity
to witness education in action.
Encore School for Strings
June 23 to August 3, 2002
ENCORE School for Strings is held on the campus of Western Reserve Academy in
Hudson, Ohio. The six-week intensive program attracts a superb faculty of
international renown and a student body of 160 of the most talented students
from around the world. Free concerts are presented each week by students,
faculty and guest artists. A special Blue Ribbon Series features distinguished
alumni of ENCORE in free recitals throughout the summer.

ENCORE Too!
July 1 - 26, 2002
ENCORE Too! is a new summer experience for self-motivated string students from ages 7-12,
designed for children who love to practice and are deeply committed to their instrument.
The program, held on the same campus as ENCORE School for Strings, helps young instrumentalists
achieve their fullest potential. Designed for both Suzuki and traditionally trained violinists,
the program offers a two-week and four-week session.

Camp Klavier

Camp Klavier is an intensive four-week program available by audition to piano students. Participants
study piano repertoire and technique in a creative and supportive environment.

Chamber Music Festival
December 2002
The yearly Chamber Music Festival concentrates on string and string/piano
repertoire performed by the thirty student ensembles at CIM. Master classes and
concerts fill the week of free events, open to the public.
Art Song Festival
May 20 - 25, 2002
The biennial Art Song Festival is a week-long event in which featured artists
work with talented singer/pianist teams, selected from applicants throughout the
country. The unique format includes performances, lectures and master classes
which are open to the public.

Sergei Babayan International Piano Academy
May 20 - June 1, 2002
The Sergei Babayan International Piano Academy accepts exceptionally talented
pianists from around the world to study with Mr. Babayan, the Mr. and Mrs. John
D. Gilliam Artist-in-Residence at The Cleveland Institute of Music. The Academy
features public master classes and concludes with a marathon recital performed
by the participants.

Cleveland International Piano Competition
August 2003
The Cleveland Institute of Music will host the Cleveland International Piano
Competition, sponsored by The Piano International Association of Northern Ohio
(PIANO). This event attracts gifted musicians from around the world who compete
for cash awards, a New York recital debut, a compact disc recording, and concert
performances in the U.S. and abroad.
