Black awareness of HIV is stressed
The 39-year-old Detroiter is on a mission to inform African-American Detroiters, in particular, about the growing incidence of HIV/AIDS infection in the area, and where those affected can turn for help.

State of the Black Union: The Black Church: Tavis Smiley will present a series of workshops and a symposium. Church and Financial Literacy, Church and Public Health and Church and Technology workshops, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 7. Symposium will examine whether the Black Church is Relevant, Repressive or Reborn, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Feb. 8.
