Track Santa on police web-site

BEDFORDSHIRE police has come up with a high-tech idea to help keep children amused this Christmas Eve.

By logging on to the force’s Operation Scorpion web site visitors can access another run by NASA – and track Father Christmas’ progress as he makes his journey around the world.

The Countdown to Santa’s Sleigh Launch can be found in the Scorpion for Kidz section of the site at www.operationscorpion.org.uk. Until Christmas Eve it features a map and simple text updates on areas like the toy workshop and reindeer.

The festive fun is aimed at encouraging more people to take a look at the Operation Scorpion web site, which is always full of crime prevention advice and ways the community can help police.

This month’s Crime Diary has the seasonal theme ‘Peace on Earth – Peace of Mind’ and contains tips for enjoying a crime free holiday. It covers subjects like keeping wallets and credit cards safe when shopping and protecting homes from burglars.

Lara Curtayne of Bedfordshire Police Community Action department said: “We don’t want to be Christmas killjoys – we just want people to have a crime free holiday. By keeping some simple guides in mind, the festive season can be safe and happy for us all.”
