NEWS RELEASE 29/10/2003

Priory Middle School Damaged

Police in Dunstable are appealing for witnesses and information after 29 windows were smashed at Priory Middle School at the weekend by youths on a drink and drug fuelled rampage.

It is believed three youths, who have subsequently been arrested, were responsible for the incident which followed a burglary at the White Swan pub in High Street South minutes before. Also being linked to the incident, which left damage totalling around £1000 was a further attack on seven cars parked in Englands Lane in the Alfred Street area of the town.

As a result of officers being called to the area as the damage was being caused three youths were arrested. Two, aged 17, from Dunstable have subsequently been charged with the burglary, the third, aged 18, of Houghton Regis has been charged with burglary and criminal damage. All three are on bail to appear at Luton Magistrates Court on November 4th.

Dc Dan Cartwright, investigating, said: “While three youths have been charged in connection with this incident, I am still looking for witnesses who may have additional information which may help the enquiry. It is also important that the community realises we will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and will take a hard line with anyone who causes damage in this way.”

Anyone with information should contact Dc Cartwright at Dunstable CID on 01582 473131, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
