New world order slowly warming up to Russia
RIGA, Latvia -- History is accelerating. Only a few years ago, Western diplomats were quietly discouraging the idea that the three Baltic Republics on the edge of Russia--Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia -- might join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Today all three Baltic states are members not only of NATO but also of the European Union.
