Regional Sales Manager – New York City
The Regional Sales Manager position, based in New York City, is focused on developing sales opportunities for the news content of MSNBC.com and Slate.  The primary objective is to acquire new clients or clients with low brand sales activity on MSNBC and Slate by working with the MSN Sales team to identify needs and solutions.  Will function as an expert in news content and brand sales to position MSNBC and Slate within a traditional media mix, rather than performance placements.

The Regional Sales Manager will develop key relationships with clients and agencies while working in cooperation with the MSN Sales force and the account executives that have responsibility for the overall relationships. 

The Regional Sales Manager will be supported on package development, product marketing, and market research from the sales and business development staff of MSNBC in order to maximize time spent communicating with prospects and clients.  After-sale support will be performed by an MSN account manager under the direction of the MSN AE assigned to the account.

Experience Required:  A minimum 4 years proven direct sales or business development experience in news media sales to brand advertising clients.  Experience selling to national accounts or strong vertical industry focus (e.g., automotive, finance, retail, etc.) is required.  Candidates must have extremely strong skills in initiating high-level contacts in accounts and their agencies, acquiring sales presentation opportunities, and the ability to close business.  Candidates must be passionate about the benefits of branding campaigns on the Internet.

The ideal candidates will be action oriented, results driven individuals able to function cooperatively within a complex sales organizational structure.  Candidates must also demonstrate exceptional customer-focus and be confident communicators in phone, written and face-to-face settings.  Ideal candidates must have the ability to identify account opportunities, define the products to meet the account's needs, and close product packages to meet their revenue goals.  It is crucial that candidates be able to represent MSNBC and Slate with integrity and trustworthiness.  Candidates must have excellent relationship and time management skills in order to successfully bring in new business and respond to an ever changing market.
