Madison graduates show the new faces of our future
It was amazing. Had I not been there to see it and hear it, I never would have believed it. But I, and thousands of others, witnessed it in Madison, Wis.

Fight against bogus Wisconsin fines not over yet
Two weeks ago I wrote about my unusual arrest on a Saturday afternoon in Racine County, Wis. If you missed it, here's a recap: A Racine County sheriff's deputy pulled me over from a line of heavy traffic, told me I was speeding but couldn't show me proof because they don't use radar up there, refused to take my bond card because I wasn't a Wisconsin resident, told me I would have to pay with cash or credit card, informed me that I had a legitimate Illinois driver's license but that my Wisconsin license was suspended, proceeded to tow my car, take my purse, frisk me, put me in the back seat of his sheriff's car, drove me to the Racine County Sheriff's station where, for the two alleged infractions, he fined me nearly $400. Less than 36 hours later, in a call to the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles, I was told I was a valid driver in Wisconsin with an Illinois driver's license, and the Racine County deputy sheriff was wrong.

Welcome to Wisconsin -- unless you're an Illinois driver
Take this as fair warning: If you're planning on driving north to Wisconsin on Interstate 94 and your car bears Illinois plates -- or any plate other than Wisconsin -- be prepared to be pulled over, fined and, even if you have a clean driving record and legitimate driver's license, have your car towed and be taken into custody. It happened to me.
