SPORTS

HERSHEY -- There were close to 30 of them -- decked out in maize, blue and the number 7 -- cheering wildly when Chad Henne entered the game on the third down of a fourth quarter drive during July 24's Big 33 Football Classic.

Citing a desire to be closer to his fiancé and son, Penn State baseball coach Joe Hindelang announced his retirement July 15, effective Aug. 25, ending his 14-year tenure as the Nittany Lions' head coach.

There's a bit of an awkward pause when Zack Mills or Michael Robinson gets asked about it any more. A telltale rolling of the eyes, click of the tongue or hand on the face that hints at a restrained exasperation.
