It wouldn't be wrong to say writer-director Shashanka
Ghosh's debut film gives a ricocheting twist to the theme of
gangsters.
Waisa Bhi Hota Hai, Part
2
, starring Arshad Warsi, Prashant Naryanan, Sandhya Mridul, Pratima
Kazmi is written & directed by Shashanka Ghosh.
Ever since Ram
Gopal Varma's
Satya
emerged from the
barrel of the gun, Hindi cinema has been frequenting the blood-soaked streets
and lanes of Mumbai to understand the underworld.
Where
Satya
was raw,
Waisa Bhi Hota Hai
is quirky. Ghosh's
attitude to violence is more bratty than bizarre. His ragged bunch of assassins
and other outcasts are comic without being caricatures.
Turning the
Satya
theme on its head, Ghosh
introduces white-collar adman Puneet (Arshad Warsi) as a man who's just split
with his girlfriend (Sandhya Mridul), when he runs into a wounded gangster
Vishnu (Prashant Narayanan).
