They don’t call him the big daddy of Indian cinema for
nothing! Yash Chopra almost always manages to hit the bull’s eye. He has
gone great guns with his recent release
Hum
Tum
and this time round, he is all set to add another feather to his cap
with
Dhoom
. And for those of you who
think it’s a remake of the movie
Torque
, it’s certainly
not.
The movie has a simple storyline that revolves around mammoth
robberies in different parts of the Mumbai in short spans of each other by a
gang of motorists. And the cop entrusted with the task of nabbing’em, is
our very own Bachchan junior.
And helping him in his ordeal is one
of the most under-rated actors of the industry, Uday Chopra, a master at bike
riding. A wholesome entertainer through two and half hours, the movie
won’t give you an opportunity to blink your eyes. The typical
chor
- Police theme has been played up
in the movie with differentiation and utmost panache.
There are about
four songs that are not out of sync and rather good. The title track is very
good and adds to your satisfaction of full paisa
vasool
. Even after the movie is over
you can feel the background score reverberating in your ears. Some great action
and also decent comedy make
Dhoom
quite
a winner.
And as far the cast is concerned, all those who thought
that the new kids on the block were good for nothing, will have to think again.
Abhishek Bachchan is mind blowing and has already started showing
streaks of his dad, convincing everyone that he has finally matured to take on
the onus of being Bachchan junior.
Uday Chopra proves his
versatility in the movie and can be trusted to take on the Chopra lineage in
another direction of Indian cinema.
John Abraham as usual does
justice to his wicked role and promises great potential.
Esha Deol
looks ravishing in her new make over. Rimmi Sen also lives up well to her good
furniture image in the film.
The movie dismisses the belief that
Indian audiences are capable of only appreciating candy floss romance.
Dhoom
, a must watch.
