[ Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004 ] With the threat of bioterrorism a possibility and with the government's recent attempts to reduce salmonella and other food-related infections in the United States, Penn State scientists are finding increasing importance in developing sensors to protect the nation's food supply. Battered and bruised, the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla., emerged from under piles of debris left by Hurricane Jeanne. For those Penn State students like Dane Valcarcel who make the trek home via Interstate 80, there is something peculiar between the Route 15 and Mile Run exits: a bunch of painted lines going across the road.
