The No. 6 Penn State field hockey team (16-4) plays the opening round of the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament tomorrow against No. 7 Kent State.
Tomorrow's matchup will be the first meeting between both teams this year. In their only other matchup back in 2000, Penn State defeated Kent State 2-0.
The Nittany Lions finished third in the Big Ten this season while the Golden Flash recently won the Mid-American Conference field hockey tournament.
This year also marks Kent State's fifth straight NCAA tournament appearance. Last year, Penn State failed to make the tournament for the first time in more than a dozen years.
A loss for either team would eliminate them from tournament play.
The winner of tomorrow's match will play the winner of No. 5 Michigan or No. 9 Princeton on Sunday at Bigler Field.
