Defining Journalists in the Age of the Blog
According to today's NY Times, in an age when private citizens are publishing blogs that have become a "critical source of news," the courts are being asked by Apple Computer to decide to whether or not bloggers should enjoy the same protections as mainstream journalists. In the past, the courts have extended latittude to journalists "in protecting the identities of confidential sources."

Connection between High Technology Use and Fertility Problems

Shock Survey – University of New York (funny)

While listening to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/, comedy and quizzes, the following was mentioned.. “.. the research suggest that the man in the train constantly using the laptop, mobile phone, electronic organizer… is the type… that rarely gets la*ed.” ( lots of laughter..)

Next time you fly into San Jose International on that DC-9 or /737, have a look around and have a GOOD LAUGH !!

Jch,

thanks for your contributions, I did further analysis and I will probably will sign off from AO.

It was fun posting controversial, attention getting headlines and getting hits, but there is little depth.

......couldn't hear you for all the static Thomas....................yes I am near a beach..........

[jch] | POSTED: 01.03.05 @16:33

Jch,

What are you dong for News Years ?
Are you near a beach ?

quantum leap -> the EU and the US could learn a lot from one another..
Fortunately for many.. Swiss boredom doesn't rub off... as long as you keep your distance

cost of diminishing returns.. more noise -> less substance.

Thomas Gerigk | POSTED: 12.31.04 @03:16

..........ever hear of a quantum leap.................

[jch] | POSTED: 12.30.04 @18:59

Well,

the above could also be interpreted as very sad for many lonely workaholics... but than a blackberry for SMS and emails.. do I really need this ?

Thomas Gerigk | POSTED: 12.29.04 @07:01

Jch,

Swiss.. step by step...

Thomas Gerigk | POSTED: 12.28.04 @03:44

Martinus,

when you have bit of time, just watch people. A train station or airport would be super

Try to seperate your self from the group and watch people behaviour and how they move around.
How many are aware of where they are and what they are doing ?

If you do this excecrise a few times... people moving around at train stations will appear like electrons, or seperate worlds moving around in a defined space.. it is a feeling.. and you will know what I mean if you try it a few times.

Just stand back and watch..

Thomas Gerigk | POSTED: 12.22.04 @09:09

Well, BBC show..... my observation in Londen......
In Paris or Amsterdam (to my perception) it is not that intense....
That's what struck me.

Martinus | POSTED: 12.22.04 @05:47

have a good laugh because people are so sedentary now a days, and they are
overweight and so on. A certain portion of bodybuilder type has a hard time with
his own psyche in seeing how many overweight people there are. Basic solutions
such as liquid metabolizers, digestive enzymes, chromium piconolate, exercise,
walking, and avoidance of sweets and refined carbohydrates, snacks, and heavily
salted foods, seems like a must for those who end up parked with their laptop, cellphone
and organizer. Fertility will not be the problem, but in fact vitamin E will enhance fertility even for the sedentary. There is no link between lack of fertility and high tech. There
will be a link between difficult deliveries, painful walking for the pregnant, lower back
problems, potencial heart attack, and swollen ankles- when anticipating pregnancy
in a less that "normal" body condition and also body weight! When the woman gets
pregnant, she has to take far less supplements. Most warn pregnant mothers on
the label. So, technology in being obsessive for many folks, should be balanced with
a proper diet, exercise regime, activities, and walking.....Balance and Discipline should
be very important to most people. Even if they are pretty normal folks, they don't
have the sort of drive required to go beyond what is human in order to accomplish
feats of superhumans, divas, and so on. So why should they deny the rule of integrated
time scheduling in their own little lives? So much is lost not as much aestetically speaking in being overweight, but also in becoming very tired, lacking in energy,
and in an unhealthy position if pregnancy results from some sex. after all, sex
is exercise too.

Martinus,

ok,.. and... ?

Thomas Gerigk | POSTED: 12.18.04 @10:30

Meant to say: Last month in LODNDON I was really struck by the magnitude of people completely taken by their laptop, mobile phone, organizer, or even a combination.

Martinus | POSTED: 12.17.04 @23:54

Martinus,

It can be very addicting and ego driven. Watch how man people are addicted to their mobile phones when they are at the airport. They grab the phone onces they are off the airplane, almost immediately..
