Weslay Rickey was born on December 20, 1881, in Stockdale,
Ohio. Branch Rickey was the chairman of the board and director
of the Pittsburgh National League Baseball Club. He served
in the United States Army during World War I. In 1957, a
background investigation was completed on Mr. Rickey, who
was being considered by the White House for the Presidents's
Committee on Government Employment Policy. In April of 1961,
Rickey's only son died. He was the father of five daughters.
