John
D. Rockefeller, III was born March 21, 1906, in New York
City. On June 5, 1939, John D. Rockefeller, III was appointed
as a member of the committee on juvenile delinquency. Rockefeller
received an extortion letter on September 1, 1953, postmarked
Columbus, Georgia, on August 26, 1953. This letter appeared
to be a threat against Rockefeller. In 1956, Rockefeller
formed the Asia Society to foster understanding between
the United States and the Far East. Rockefeller met with
Director Hoover on June 18, 1959, concerning the Rockefeller
Public Service Awards.
