User opinions for IBM ThinkPad X40
"extremely dissappointed in IBM's whole package of quality & service" KATHY BRADLEY on 24-May-2004 09:14:01 PM
Pros: Having to do many college papers and being on the move I chose a laptop
(IBM Thinkpad) for convienience & portability,
IBM because i thought i would get the best quality & customer service.
Cons: What a dissappointment! The modem was slow and the charger burned out. They didn't last one year. My battery didn't keep a charge long and the plugs broke and were different types when I tried to replace it. By the time i was ready to graduate (2yrs later)the machine was useless(even the screen was cracked). I couldn't trade it in or even give it away. I called IBM before graduation and they were very patient and courteous but they said there was nothing they could do. needless to say, i would never buy an IBM again. i certainly feel as if i threw away almost $2000 dollars. I spoke to a friend that purchased a Gateway and she was still using hers 5 yrs later.
"drop the keyboard clit!" foshizzle on 19-Mar-2004 02:42:06 PM
Pros: sturdy, well built, LIGHT!
Cons: no touchpad
no firewire
no memory stick type slots
no built-in DVD or CD drive!! - I have to lug around an external drive? forget it!
When will IBM drop that keyboard clit and move to touchpads?
