WASHINGTON (Ticker) - Help is coming just in time for the Washington Wizards.
In the midst of a three-game losing streak, the Wizards on Wednesday activated guard Larry Hughes and forward-center Kwame Brown from the injured list.
Hughes, who is not expected to play in Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, has missed the last 17 contests with a fractured right thumb. He appeared in 34 games prior to the injury, averaging 21.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists and a league-leading 2.82 steals.
Brown has been sidelined since January 6, missing 26 games with a strained tendon in his right ankle. After beginning the season on the injured list with a broken bone in his right foot, Brown appeared in 14 contests and averaged 5.6 points and 3.4 rebounds.
To make room on the roster, the Wizards placed guard Juan Dixon and rookie center Peter John Ramos on the IL.
Dixon suffered a sprained right ankle during a loss to Houston on February 15. He is averaging 8.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 46 games. Ramos, who is sidelined with right plantar fasciitis, has averaged 1.5 points and 1.0 rebounds in four games this season.
