Each year the Museum's staff of 75, along with numerous guest artists, consulting curators, and educators, work together to produce more than 150 public and educational programs, exhibitions, and Internet offerings. The scope of activities includes educational public programs for adults, families and students; permanent and special exhibitions drawn from the collections; traveling loan exhibitions; collections-based publications; collections access for research; and Internet initiatives including virtual exhibitions highlighting "hidden" aspects of the collections. More than 1 million people throughout the world enjoy these programs annually. Visitors and users range from the elementary student on a class field trip, the high school student working as a summer peer docent with camp groups, and seniors on an outing, to documentary filmmakers, university scholars and museum curators researching collection holdings. Foreign tourists and family groups also utilize the resources and programs the Museum offers, from walking tours to exhibition-linked musical programming. In order to achieve its ambitious goals, each year the Museum receives the financial support of a number of proud individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies that believe in the Museum's mission of preserving the city's many diverse cultures.
