'''Hipcrime''' is both an anonymous Usenet Vandal and the eponymous method he devised. His primary method of attack involved installing software (which he himself wrote) on public terminals which would then issue forged Cancel_messages using the Message_headers of the target, and then to re-issue the message (forged) with his own content - hundreds of times over. This software has since been adopted by many other vandals; Hipcrime himself has ceased his activities in recent years, and is believed by some to have been institutionalized. The name "Hipcrime" is taken from the novel ''Stand_on_Zanzibar'' by John Brunner. ==References== * Lumber_Cartel ==External link== * Tim Skirvin's Killfile Dungeon entry on Hipcrime {{compu-stub}} Category:Usenet
