Open, view, scroll, work within and print any PDF document in record time with Mac OS X Tiger. A built-in PDF viewer, Preview 3, and a robust two-dimensional drawing engine, Quartz 2D, make easy navigation and pristine printing possible.

Save as PDF in Safari

Save and Print Perfectly

When you print or save to a PDF file, Quartz 2D — the revolutionary composited windowing system based on the PDF format — ensures the quality of your image is never compromised. Your PDF file or your printed document retains its transparency and three-dimensional elements so that it looks just as it’s supposed to look.

Searching

Search in Any PDF

Type in a word or phrase and Preview instantly returns the results in an easy-to-use list that shows you each occurrence of the search terms within a contextual phrase, organized by page. Click on one of the results and Preview whisks you to that page and highlights the term.

Work with Text

You can easily select text within a PDF document and copy it to the Clipboard. Select a single word or paragraphs at a time. Even though some documents make contiguous text selection a challenge, Preview lets you drag to create a selection, even jumping across gaps. Tiger Preview also lets you fill in PDF forms. Tab between fields and see where you are with the Aqua highlight. Doing your taxes never looked so good.

ColorSync Filters

Go from PostScript to PDF

Because PostScript-to-PDF conversion technology is integrated into Quartz 2D, any Mac OS X application can draw images on screen from high-resolution PostScript/EPS data instead of low-resolution bitmap. This means you can print PostScript-quality documents on all printers, even on non-PostScript devices. Your documents always look their best, no matter what printer you use.

Stay Image Conscious

Tiger adds support for more document formats, such as Adobe DNG, RAW and JPEG2000. Adjust colors with the filters provided by Core Image. Enjoy a quick slideshow of your pictures to decide which ones to keep. You can also add keywords to your images. Spotlight will use keywords in its quests.

View FAX Documents, Too

Preview makes the built-in faxing feature the seamless experience you expect from a Mac. When you open an incoming fax, Preview renders it as a PDF, enhancing resolution and quality for improved legibility.

PDF Document

Get the Word Out

URL support in Preview makes short work of navigating long documents and lets you distribute documents that are linked together and or to content on the Internet. Double-click to open any PostScript or EPS file, and Preview will convert the file to PDF, enabling you to print EPS or PostScript files.
