A team of computing and technology students from the University of East London (UEL) has been named as joint winners of the prestigious Design Challenge 2005 competition run by NESTA Futurelab, for their Kampus project, a virtual-reality game to help teach Citizenship in schools.

An exciting and accessible new centre offering local residents advice and guidance on all aspects of education and training for employment was officially opened on Friday, 10 December by the Rt. Hon Margaret Hodge MP, Minister of State for Children, at the Vicarage Field Shopping Centre, Barking.
The University of East London was one of the first universities to introduce a second semester intake, and it has proven increasingly popular. More than 800 students joined in February 2004, representing over 20% of total new enrolments for the year.

On Thursday 2nd September, an exhibition of the work of 13 final-year students from the University of East London's Masters of Art (MA) Fine Art opens at the Docklands campus of the University of East London (UEL). The work on display at the MA Fine Art 2004 Show includes painting, sculpture, installation, photography and printmaking. The students have come to study on UEL's MA programme from many different backgrounds and from all over the world.

With A-level results day on Thursday, 19th August, the University of East London (UEL) is preparing for a record number of applications and enquiries over the next few weeks.
Open advice and access centres have been set up at UEL's three main campuses at Barking, Docklands and Stratford, with admissions staff and lecturers standing by to receive the thousands of enquiries for the places still available. Visitors to the campus can also speak to lecturers, specialist advisers and current students, and tour the facilities.
From September this year, the University of East London will be helping train a new generation of cybercrime-fighters with the launch of a unique new postgraduate degree programme.
The Master of Science (MSc) in Information Security and Computer Forensics at UEL is the first of its kind in the UK. Students, including IT professionals and graduates, will receive theoretical and practical training in network security management, and how to deal with viruses and malicious codes. They will learn how to track criminal activity through computer networks and collect and secure 'virtual crime scene' information.
The University of East London has developed a new BSc honours degree in Complementary Therapy (Pilates & Therapeutic Massage), and from September becomes the first university in the UK to offer training in Pilates at degree level. Teaching will begin in October 2004 at UEL's School of Health and Bioscience in Stratford, and draws upon the expertise of practitioners and researchers from a range of disciplines.
