Research at UEL spans a wide range of expertise from African and Asian Art to robotics, from youth Justice to Business Systems, and from evolutionary biodiversity to children's acquisition of speech.
UEL's researchers' work is aimed at making a positive contribution not only to the community, environment and economy of our region, but also to the improved well being of disadvantaged groups around the world. It is supported by funds awarded by the national Research Councils, commerce and charities, the European Commission, and international bodies such as UNICEF and institutions in the USA.
There are academic staff who have earned an international reputation in all the University's schools, and in the case of Sociology, Art and Design and Cultural and Innovation Studies the majority of research has been recognised by the Research Assessment Exercise as World class. Overall, the University's research is ranked in the top ten amongst Britain's new universities.
Our research students also add to the richness of our research culture in completing a variety of projects in non-traditional and inter-disciplinary topics as well as more conventional subject areas.
