ARE YOU A MUSICIAN?
Are you a singer, songwriter or musician?
If so and you love the music of Cat Stevens, chances are you know some of his songs.
If that sounds like you then CatStevens.Com would like to showcase YOUR cover versions of Cat Stevens
songs! As always we love to see a diverse selection
of songs, with unique and original interpretations. And remember, for those interested
in their "15 minutes" of fame, many record company employees read this site regularly,
including some "well known names" who work with Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam.
WHAT IS REQUIRED?
You don't have to be a great singer or musician, just willing to have a little
fun. This isn't a contest, and nobody will be judged. It's just a way for
the fans to express themselves, and enjoy each others work. All you need to do
is record a version of a Cat Stevens song at the highest possible quality
you can. That can mean using a simple tape recorder or a full blown studio recording,
it's up to you. All we ask is that you send the best recording you can
so they'll sound as clean as possible when played over the Internet.
I WANT TO SEND MY SONG, WHAT NOW?
Song submissions are accepted in the following formats:
Real Audio - ideally encoded as a surestream file supporting 28.8k, 56k, and ISDN, in stereo.
MP3 files are currently not being accepted. In the future we will be accepting them again. Until then please convert your files to real audio before sending.
Real Audio encoding software can be downloaded for free at Real.Com.
Be sure to get the basic encoder (which I believe they now call the Real Producer Basic), and not the
plus. The basic encoder is free, the others are not.
Unlike Real Audio, MP3 is an open standard and therefore there are literally dozens of programs to encode
your MP3 files. One good one is MusicMatch Jukebox.
The free version of the player will only encode 96kbps files, which is "near CD quality" but that will be
just fine for our purposes.
WHERE DO I SEND MY SONG?
The prefered method is uploading your song directly. Just fill out the form below, click submit and
the system will instruct you on how to upload your song. Once the file is received it will
automatically be added to the system. Your song will go live on the site once it's been approved.
Please include your name (or your band's name), your email address, and any
other information you'd like us to know. This could include crediting the
musicians who played on your song.
You are not logged in, or not a registered user. If you are a registered user
you should login before submitting your cover
song. If you are not a registered user you're encouraged to register
first. However you are not requried to do so.
