[STORY BIT - PART ONE]   [LEARNING BIT]   [STORY BIT - PART TWO]

Story Bit - Part One

Clive bashes the suitcases with a rock to get them open, but when they look inside the villains fail to find what they were looking for. Carter is convinced that the King's Dragon is somewhere in the cottage and wants to tear the place apart, but Clive is getting scared and somewhat regretful about all the newspaper messages that he'd sent to Miss Wood, and about having told his uncle about the King's Dragon in the first place. Carter tells him that he is greedy just like Carter himself, and that the rich man whom they plan to sell the arm-ring onto is greedy as well.

Ann is making her way back up to the castle. She realises that, if Miss Wood really had found the King's Dragon, then the newspaper messages were meant for her, and therefore Miss Wood could be in danger.

Learning Bit

Jack Dunbar is working on the layout for the Hastings Times, but finds time to explain about all the latest plot developments, and what we now know about the story. We know that the King's Dragon is a gold arm-ring, we know that Mr Carter is Cliver's uncle, and we also know that Miss Wood is now in danger from the two villains.

The new teaching bit for this episode is based on the initial consonant blends -gr and -dr, and Wordy shows us how the letters go at the beginning of words such as dragon, and loads of other words is his latest tongue twisters.
Is green grass growing on the gritty ground?
Spike the Letter Getter is once again going on about Magic E, this time in combination with i, like in his own name. We also have another reprise of the Magic E song (when e ends an i word, i comes alive).

Finally we get the most complicated crossword yet, with four different plot words to guess based on picture clues and missing-word sentences. Wordy then introduces the next bit of reading without waiting for Jack.

Story Bit - Part Two

While Jack is still busy at the office, and trying to find out where his trainee reporter's got to, Ann herself is wandering around at the castle. She can't find Miss Wood, but she manages to ask somebody where to find her. She discovers that Miss Wood has a cottage in the old town, and is told to ask Stan West for more information, because he found the cottage for her.

Stan meanwhile is trying to find Billy so they could go fishing together. Billy is busy snooping around Carter's boat. Listening at the window he hears the kitten the Carter accientally shut inside mewing sadly. He opens the hatch but can't persuade the kitten to come out, so he jumps down into the cabin to have a look around.

Ann arrives at the King Harold, and finds out from Stan where Miss Wood's cottage is. Stan has had enough waiting and sets off fishing on his own.
Billy is still investigating inside Carter's boat. He rescues the kitten, but his eye is caught by a box full of gold things. He reckons they must have been stolen, and sets off to let Ann know.

At the cottage, Carter tells Clive to wait for Miss Wood to return, and slips out to go back to his boat. He spots Ann making her way up the steps to the cottage and quickly dashes back inside. Clive tries to make a run for it, but Carter tells him to stay put so they can find out how much the reporter knows.
