Jiri Belohlavek's BBC Symphony Orchestra concerts have attracted rave reviews and loyal audiences eager to follow the Czech maestro's profoundly perceptive, thrilling brand of music making. In his first season as Chief Conductor, he leads the Orchestra in an irresistible mix of classical masterpieces together with the premiere of an unmissable new score. Jonathan Dove's Hojoki takes its inspiration from the heartfelt response of 12th-century Japanese poet and Buddhist priest Kamo-no-Chomei to the cataclysmic events of the world around him and to the contemplation of his life.
