DEAN MARTIN IN ONE MINUTE
  • Born Dino Paul Crocetti, in Steubenville, Ohio
  • He was a boxer and a dealer in casinos before taking up singing
  • First achieved stardom in the forties as part of a double act with comedian Jerry Lewis. They starred in fourteen films before splitting acrimoniously
  • "That's Amore" was a hit for him in 1953, and again in 1987 when it was featured in the film Moonstruck
  • In 1964 knocked the Beatles off the number one singles chart in the USA with "Everybody Loves Somebody"
  • The Dean Martin TV Show ran for nine years from 1964 and drew huge audiences
  • Quotes like "You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on" played up to his image as a drinker
