There's a big difference between putting words over some music, and blending those same words into the music. There's not a lot of humour. They use a lot of slang and colloquialisms, and you don't really see inside the person. Instead, you just get a lot of posturing.

  • His estranged Father played for Celtic football club.
  • Published 2 novels and a volume of poetry while still a teenager.
  • In 1972 he formed the Midnight Band with flautist Brian Jackson .
  • Esther Philips covered, to devastating effect, 'Home Is Where The Hatred Is'.
  • Collabarated with Bill Laswell on 1984's anti-Reagan diatribe, "Re-Ron"
  • Despite (or because of?) anti-drugs tracks like "The Bottle" and "Angel Dust", Gil has had a long term battle with substance abuse.
