Fall Sports Preview

SPORTS

Five of Penn State's major fall sports hoisted Big Ten trophies at the end of last season. It was an incredible time for Nittany Lion sports, as each team overcame its share of adversity and tough opponents to wind up on top of the conference standings. Last year is almost impossible to top -- the five squads had a combined one Big Ten loss -- but Penn State seems up to the challenge as it has plenty of success to build upon.

The biggest recent loss for the Penn State women's soccer team might not be the national semifinals defeat to Portland last season, but the graduation of three-time All-American Tiffany Weimer.

Women's Soccer Schedule

The 2006 Penn State women's volleyball team's new era might be utterly offensive.

Women's volleyball Schedule

Paul Posluszny has seen both ends of the football spectrum in his four-year career, and he doesn't want a repeat of those dark days and losing seasons -- he's out to prove the Nittany Lions are no one-hit wonder.

PSU Football Schedule

Most surprising championship teams in college are full of seniors and tend to be one-year wonders.

Men's Soccer Schedule

The offense that pounded the Big Ten into submission last year will stay mostly intact as the Penn State field hockey team looks to continue a 10-game home win streak after the departure of several of its core mid and back players.

These are uncharted waters for the Penn State men's tennis team.

Women's Tennis Schedule

The difference between a training run in the summer and a chilly November championship race has nothing on the change Penn State cross country will experience for the upcoming season.

Cross Country Schedule

There's plenty of room for the Penn State men's golf team to improve during the upcoming season.

Men's Golf Schedule

Denise St. Pierre, the women's golf coach, has set out a tough early-season schedule, which will put her team in a position to either perform quickly or face a long road to the Big Ten championship tournament.

Women's Golf Schedule

For some teams, simply making the Final Four is considered a job well done. But at Penn State, it's considered just the beginning.

To say the Penn State women's rugby team has been simply consistent would grossly understate its accomplishments.
