Driver flees from police, hitting officer

A State College man who had three grams of marijuana and was driving on a suspended license hit a police officer with his car as he fled from police Tuesday, according to court documents.

Adam Howard Packer, 25, was pulled over on Martin Street for having expired registration tags on his vehicle.

As a Ferguson Township police officer approached Packer's car, Packer quickly accelerated back onto the road, striking the officer's right leg.

According to the State College Police Department, Packer was both "intoxicated and high" when he was apprehended on the 200 block of South Burrowes Street around midnight. When Packer got out of his car, police said he threw a plastic sandwich bag, which contained the marijuana, onto the passenger seat. A glass marijuana pipe was found in his pocket.

He is charged with one count of driving on a suspended license, one count of driving without insurance, one count of driving an unregistered vehicle, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault and one count of fleeing a police officer.

Four suspects in assault face hearings

Three men who allegedly jumped and robbed a resident in his North Atherton Street apartment Friday night and a female accomplice had their preliminary hearings yesterday at Centre County Courthouse.

Jason Mikitko, 24, of Lock Haven, was bound over for trial on all charges. The other two men, Michael J. Considine III, 25, of Mill Hall, and Kyle St. Clair, 20, of Pleasant Gap, waived their preliminary hearings.

Samantha Davis, 19, of Bellefonte, had all of her charges withdrawn. A charge of criminal use of a communication device was handed down, and she waived her preliminary hearing on that charge.
